A campaign was developed with the Amey communications team to illustrate the journey of the road salt that keeps our roads clear. The story was pitched to BBC Scotland News as a broadcast exclusive.
The film crew visited Winsford Salt Mine in Cheshire and saw how salt is extracted and processed 500ft below ground, before being loaded into Amey gritters at Burghmuir depot. Maintaining the correct levels of road salt is vital to ensure the trunk road network is kept moving in all weather.
Outcomes
Our campaign was featured on BBC Scotland, and is available to watch at BBC Online.
Photography students from New College Lanarkshire took part in this project, with their images being used by Amey and the BBC.
